Ganjuran Church is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Java and is unusual in that it is decorated completely in Javanese styles. It is a superb example of a national culture blending into the Roman Catholic Church. The shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (pictured here) is built like a Hindu temple and open-air services held here are attended by more than a thousand devotees.

Many miracles have been experienced at this shrine including one by our own Nita who unwittingly, had a miracle cure performed through her hands some 12 years ago when she was leading a group there. It was certainly the old lady’s faith that brought her the miracle. She was on crutches which she could immediately dispose of. Nita was as surprised as everyone else as she is not a particularly pious or prayerful person.

Yes, miracles do happen.

It is certainly a worthwhile trip to open our eyes and learn from ancestors the real benefits of natural cures.
